Certification Requirements
Current NYS licensure, BLS card , PALS and ACLS are all required. Completion of Pharmacology, IV Therapy, Telemetry, Advanced Critical Care Courses, and ACLS training required within first year of employment. Minimum of one year of Medical/Surgical experience required. Unit specific orientation.
Job Requirements
Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process by complete and accurate patient assessments, initiation and implementation of Nursing Care Plan, with evaluation and alteration of nursing care as needed. Regularly demonstrate knowledge in use of all emergency equipment and prepare all equipment for use. Properly identify patients at risk for discharge and initiates discharge planning. Regularly demonstrate knowledge of ACLS and PALS protocols and utilizes in-service programs to stay current between biannual certification programs. Regularly demonstrates familiarity of pre-hospital care protocols and EMS system. Assists in clinical training experience for EMTs. Use appropriate documentation to describe patient status, any treatment given and the response to the treatment.

As a nonprofit healthcare system, Oswego Health invests every penny of income over expenses in caring for the community. Based on a recent report from the Healthcare Association of New York State, Oswego Health, with an annual payroll of $76 million, generated $228 million in economic activity for the region, translating into $28 million in tax dollars generated.
Also, Oswego Health annually provides $18 million as part of a community investment project to provide care to the uninsured, the underinsured and the indigent.
Simply put, Oswego County is our community and the health and wellness of its residents are our priority.
