Unit Description – Telemetry:
Telemetry and Neuroscience Unit is a 46-bed unit that specializes in the care of acutely ill adult cardiac, medical/surgical patients and acutely ill adult patients with acute primary neurological diagnoses requiring close monitoring and neuro checks. Common diagnoses and conditions include R/O MI, CHF, chest pain, pre-and post-cardiac catheterization care, hypertension, renal failure, diabetes, cardiomyopathy, cardiac arrhythmias, GI bleeds, ETOH withdrawal, cerebrovascular disorders, and seizure disorders. Clinical nurses on Tower 6 must become competent in interpreting telemetry, maintain both BLS and ACLS and complete annual stroke education. In addition, a positive mindset, good communication skills, and the desire to work as a team for the best patient outcomes are essential!
Position Summary: RN- Telemetry Nurse Manager:
The Nurse Manager provides overall clinical and operational management for the Telemetry Unit. Strong leadership, managerial skills, communication, and collaborative skills are critical in order to provide quality patient care and an environment that fosters staff growth and satisfaction. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of human, material, and fiscal resources to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, and patient focused care in the unit or service.
Responsibilities for Telemetry Nurse Manager:
Provides direct patient care, delegates/assigns responsibility as appropriate to others, and serves as leader of the interdisciplinary team in collaboration with and under the direction of the attending physician.
Focuses on completion of the nursing process including patient/family education and discharge planning.
Understands and acts appropriately to ensure optimum use of all resources.
